Eligibility The Northwest Territories Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

To be eligible for the Northwest Territories PNP, applicants must meet certain criteria in addition to the specific requirements of the stream they are applying under. These general eligibility criteria include:

• Having a genuine intention to live and work in the Northwest Territories on a permanent basis
• Having the necessary education, work experience, and language skills to be able to contribute to the territory’s economy
• Having the necessary financial resources to support themselves and any dependents while they are in the Northwest Territories
• Being in good health and having no criminal record
• Being able to demonstrate a strong connection to the Northwest Territories, such as through previous work experience or education in the territory

There are several different streams within the Northwest Territories PNP, each designed to meet the needs of different types of immigrants. These streams include:

• The Skilled Worker Stream: This stream is for skilled workers who have the education, work experience, and language skills required to fill jobs in the Northwest Territories that are in high demand. To be eligible for this stream, applicants must have a job offer from a Northwest Territories employerand must meet certain other criteria, including language proficiency and work experience requirements. In addition, applicants must meet the general eligibility criteria listed above.
  • The Business Stream: This stream is for entrepreneurs who are interested in establishing or purchasing a business in the Northwest Territories. To be eligible for this stream, applicants must have a business plan and must demonstrate that they have the financial resources and business experience necessary to succeed in the Northwest Territories. In addition, applicants must meet the general eligibility criteria listed above.
  • The Student Stream: This stream is for international students who are currently studying at a recognized post-secondary institution in the Northwest Territories and who have a job offer from a Northwest Territories employer. To be eligible for this stream, applicants must be enrolled in a full-time program of at least one year in length and must have a valid job offer from a Northwest Territories employer. In addition, applicants must meet the general eligibility criteria listed above.

  To apply for the Northwest Territories PNP, individuals must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Northwest Territories PNP. If their EOI is selected, they will be invited to apply for a provincial nomination. If an applicant is successful in obtaining a provincial nomination from the Northwest Territories, they can then use that nomination to apply for Canadian permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
